The Taste of Breastmilk

10th December 2013 By doulamaddie 2 Comments

It has been thought that the taste of our breastmilk can change after exercise, due to a raise in lactic acid levels. This theory appears to have been debunked in this study:

There is evidence, however, that what we eat can affect the taste of our milk – and that babies can have preferences:

There are many stories of mothers (and others!) who have tasted breastmilk for a variety of reasons.

What do you think – does your baby seem to have preferences? Do you have a story of drinking your own milk or someone else tasting it?

That’s so cute Zoe! They often seem to liken it to something sweet and yummy, don’t they?
