I have a three and a half week old son. His tongue tie wasn’t spotted in hospital, despite us asking and me having feeding issues. We were in hospital for a week and asked numerous times. It was only picked up once home by a BfN Supporter. By then I was slowly slipping into depression. I felt like a failure having to formula feed and exhausted from expressing. He had his snip yesterday and latched on immediately but has since failed to latch on. We feel completely let down by the health professionals around us who blamed me for my feeding issues without picking up the problem from day one. I have gone back now to formula and the feeling of failure every time my son rejects my breast is unbearable.
